Since the process of digestion starts with the ingestion of food through the mouth, it is one of the important parts of the digestive system. It only when we eat food that the process of digestion gets rolling. Thus it is very important to take good care of one's mouth. Any problem with this part of the body could not only be unhealthy but also very painful. You should not hesitate to seek medical help as soon as you detect some problem with that part of your body. The mouth also helps for other purposes like speaking, breathing, etc.

Different parts of mouth

Various parts of the body taken together form the mouth. The upper jaw, the lower jaw, the teeth, gums, cheek muscles, tongue and salivary glands form the different parts of the human organ of mouth. The salivary glands are instrumental in helping to breakdown the food particles consumed. It is by the combination of all these body parts that the process of ingestion takes place. Any problem which afflicts any one of the parts of mouth could lead serious health threats by affecting the human digestive system.

There are numerous diseases of the mouth against which the people have to protect themselves. The diseases could vary depending on the extent of harm which it could cause to the digestive system. The diseases range from mild ones like bad breath and toothache to serious ones like mouth cancer. Taking proper care of your mouth could prevent the occurrence of any of these diseases. You should also consult your dentist on a regular basis in order to prevent or detect any problems related to your mouth or teeth.
